Acupuncture services generally consist of 1-hour treatment sessions in which thin needles are inserted along specific points throughout your body. Treatments are based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis, differentiation, and healing strategies.
Other acupuncture techniques that we use with your consent are:
Moxibustion: A traditional therapy that uses the warmth of burned mugwart on top of needles or directly on the skin. A burn cream is always applied and the practitioner is ready to respond if the mugwart becomes too warm for the patient. This practice helps to stimulate circulation in the channels and free the flow of qi in our bodies. It is great for digestive issues, colds, stress, autoimmune disorders, and pain.
Tuina/Shiatsu: These are medical massage techniques which are incorporated into every treatment to some degree. Tuina and shiatsu are wonderful for treating pain, muscle soreness, stress, insomnia, headaches, and digestive issues. We offer tuina as its own entity if you are hesitant about needles.
Cupping: The use of local suction at the skin to help with the relief of muscle pain, swelling, scar tissue, and even colds/flu.
Gwasha: Scrapping technique used to dissipate pain and muscle tension. It is even great for morning sickness!
